Chancellor Philip DiStefano and a pair of CU С����Ƶ sustainability leaders participated in University Climate Change Coalition (UC3) events during June as the university continues to take a leading role among higher education institutions in collaborating on climate solutions.

Twenty-six miles to the west of С����Ƶ, on a 9,500-foot hillside surrounded by dozens of species of flowers and animals, scientists and students at the Mountain Research Station have gathered since 1920 to conduct some of the world’s most unique studies on high-altitude ecology and, more recently, how climate change is altering it.

Last month, Colorado Gov. Jared Polis signed a legislative bill into law designating Juneteenth an official state holiday, and CU С����Ƶ recognizes the importance of the date, also known as Freedom Day, Jubilee Day, Liberation Day and the second independence day.

Two unlikely actors will make an appearance at this year’s Colorado Shakespeare Festival. Mabel, an 8-year-old lab-mix, and Zebulon, a black lab trained for service through Canine Partners of the Rockies, will share the role of Crab in The Two Gentlemen of Verona by William Shakespeare in the 2022 summer season.

Since the start of the pandemic, the Deming Center for Entrepreneurship pivoted their model to continue to serve rural Colorado businesses in a virtual format. The impact of COVID on small businesses has only increased the value of these workshops during this economic and health crisis.

“The entrepreneurial mindset is needed now more than ever as we navigate this crisis. Demystifying the process of bringing an idea to market and scaling an organization’s impact is key to helping our rural economies,” explains Deming’s Executive Director Erick Mueller.
