What Are They?

Official transcripts are comprehensive records of your academic coursework and progress at the University of Coloradothat reflectearned degrees as well as credits accepted in transfer or by exam.

Unofficial transcripts contains the same information as official transcripts, but:

  • Lackthe authenticity features typically required by academic institutions and potential employers
  • Includeyour academic probation information for advising purposes, if applicable
  • Display yourpreferred name (official transcripts display yourlegal name)

Log in to to check for holds before placing your order. If you have any financial obligations, please complete a Request for Release of Financial Transcript Hold. Typically, your hold will be released within 15 minutes of submitting the form.

What's Included

Select thetranscript type that best meets your needs:

  • All CU Historyincludes all coursework from any CU campus (includes nondegree work; excludes noncredit work). You must select this transcript type if you took:
    • One or more graduate courses as a nondegree student
    • One or more CU courses in or before1988
    • Nondegree coursework for any career

  • Undergraduate, Graduate or Law Onlyincludes coursework in the specified career only. Pre-1988 coursework is not available in this format.

  • Non-Credit Onlyincludes noncredit coursework taken through Continuing Education.

Transfer Credits

Credits transferred from other institutions, including study abroad (starting Summer 2016),display in the "Transfer Credit and/or Study Abroad Credit Applied"section of your transcript.Note: Transfer credits are presented as total credits from each institution, not as individual courses.

AP/IB/CLEP Test Credits

Courses and credits appear in the "Transfer, Test and/or Study Abroad Credit Applied"sectionand include the equivalent CU course(s) for which credit was granted.

All official University of Colorado СƵ transcripts are authenticated by the following criteria.

Front of transcript

  • Registrar's signature.
  • "The University of Colorado" appearsin large white type across the face of the document.
  • The university seal is printed on transcript background.
  • The wordsParchment Official Document Anti-Copy Watermarkwill appear when held at a 45-degree angle.
  • The wordsParchment Official Document Sealwill appear when rubbed with a coin.
  • The hidden messageUNOFFICIAL COPYwill appear on copies made by most photocopiers.

Back of transcript

  • A hidden Parchment official document seal will fluoresce green under black light.
  • The wordsParchment Official Document Anti-Copy Watermarkwill appear when held at a 45-degree angle.
  • The wordsParchment Official Document Sealwill appear when rubbed with a coin.

All questions and concerns about the authenticity of transcripts should be directed to the Office of the Registrar.

Pricing & Shipping

Standard electronic transcript orders are typically processed within 15 minutes, but may take up to a few hours during high-volume periods. Paper and electronic transcripts with pre-1988 coursework are processed within 3 to 5 business days. Transcripts with incomplete account information or third-party orders are immediately assigned to Registrar staff for review and processing within 1 to 3 business days.

Hold for Degree
Graduating students may choose to have transcripts placed in a “hold for degree” status until the current semester degrees are posted. The Office of the Registrar does not review “hold for degree” orders to see if individual degrees have been posted – students who select this option and are delaying their graduation are responsible for notifying our office to cancel any transcript orders before they are released. No refunds will be given for orders after they have been released. Students should check the Academic Calendar to see when their degrees are officially posted. If students need proof of completing all graduation requirements prior to degrees being posted, they must contact academic advising to obtain a letter of completion.
The Office of the Registrar will release all “hold for degree” transcript orders during the approximate windows:
  • Spring Orders– Orders placed on hold from the fourth week of January through the first week in June will be held until spring degrees are posted.
  • Summer Orders– Orders placed on hold from mid-June through the second week of September will be held until summer degrees are posted.
  • Fall Orders– Orders placed from mid-September through the third week of January will be held until fall degrees are posted.

This is the fastest and most cost-effective way to send or receive an official transcript. PDF transcripts are available for download for 30 days after purchase. It is the purchaser's responsibility to ensure the recipient downloads the transcript within that time. No refunds are given fordocuments not downloaded within 30 days.
